#9--Bussing around for Fashion

Forget popup shops, Bus tours are the newest way brands such as Kate Spade New York and Madewell are getting their names out there around the country, literally!! Both of the above mentioned brands crated busses to tour around America as mobile shops stopping in popular cities in the states!

Kate Spade's adorable Florence Broadhurst themed bus started in New York City in April and ended its tour in Austin Texas during SXSW music festival. The bus had fun give-aways, games, and of course, a place to shop. The bus also had it;s own twitter account in which fans could follow to find the bus in their own city. KSNY bus tour pictures below...SO cute!!

Madewell's bus tour soon followed, also kicking off in New York City in April. The old fashioned themed bus is cute an edgy holding true to the brands' image. This bus also has it's own twitter page for fans to follow. And lucky for these fans, the first to find the bus in each city gets a FREE pair of Madewell jeans! Such a shame I found out about this one too late :(

#8--Paper Crown

Lauren Conrad. What do you think of when you hear this name? Maybe her first 'claim to fame' reality TV series, Laguna Beach. Or maybe you think of the drama filled hit reality show The Hills.

Since choosing to leave The Hills TV show to pursue her professional life, Lauren has written 5 best selling books, designed a clothing line for Kohl's, and also started her own fashion line names Paper Crown. The ladder however, seems to have stayed under the radar of most people. Although it is sold in big-name stores such as Nordstrom and Cusp, Lauren's line has yet to have her big break. But I think it's only a matter of time for word to spread and Paper Crown will become a brand hanging in every women's closet.

Paper Crown is full of fun a flirty dresses, day outfits and much more. Her pieces seem to transition perfectly from day to night with a quick change of accessories and shoes. The lines are simple yet elegant and look to be flattering on most body types. Lauren's eye for simple elegance is right on par which, for a reality star, seems quite surprising.

Check out the link below to see Paper Crown look books from this season and several seasons past. The shots are simple yet incredibly chic. The setting in which the photographs have been taken are uncomplicated yet sophisticated, and I am dying over that nautical beach outfit!! :)

#7--Bridal Trunk Shows

It seems that weddings now-a-days are more about "the dress" or even "the dresses" than the holiness of matrimony. All eyes are on the bride and everyone is thinking one thing, what will that dress look like?! If it's great, then it's great. But if it's not so great, there's some serious talk. More and more women are focusing on what their dress looks like and what other people will think of it as well.

Knowing this, wedding dress designers and boutiques are really taking advantage of this. Trunk shows are a great way to get designers' names out there to customers. Whether they are well known or not, a trunk show is a great way to show customers a new designer or a new line for the season. Fashions can come and go but women are always going to have a need for wedding dresses. So keep the trunk shows coming!!

Below are two very different bridal trunk shows.

Disney Bridal (< click here!)
This trunk show is for the Disney Bridal collection at a small boutique. I think this is a very cute idea for a women who really pictures her wedding to be a real life fairy tale. Whether she dreams of being Belle or Aurora, there is an option for her.

Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Vera Wang Bridal (< click here!)
Vera Wang has become a household name. When you think wedding, you think of her. It seems everyone dreams of getting married in one of her miraculously beautiful gowns but some people could simply not afford it. When Vera decided to do her White Label, she allowed for such a larger customer base access to her dresses. These gorgeous dresses range between $500 and $1500.

#--6 Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2012/2013 | Paris Fashion Week

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COUxD5JLRrw

Leave it to Marc Jacobs to absolutely blow us away. First of all, the train pulling into the station was epic. With the smoke machine and the realistic sound effects, it gave the audience the sensation of actually being in the train station. As the train come to a halt, music begins and a man (conductor maybe) steps out to help the first model down. She comes out with stunning camel coat with breath taking oversized jeweled brooch buttons and an oversized 20's/30's style hat. It wasn't until about the third model that I realized the shorter men following each model, carrying her "luggage" was actually holding the new bag line which was equally exquisite.

This show is very much worth seeing at least once.

Bravo Marc! You're the best thing that ever happened to Louis Vuitton.

#5--Shades of Nude

As per my previous entry regarding color, I believe pastels are going to remain in fashion. It seems that 2012 so far has been the year of COLOR! Neons and brights have truly exploded and even the 'pastels' of the season have had a vibrant and bright hue to them.

With that being said, I believe Spring 2013 will yes hold color, but a very muted and almost transparent hue to them. Below find a color pallet that is so similar it is almost bland, but when these colors are mixed in matched in the fashions shown below, the colors seem to work so well together and really begin to POP! The mix of the crisp whites, camels, taupes, blushes and corals and a hint of mint and sky blue, are so cohesively beautiful.

#4--Richard Chai Fall 2012 NY Fashion Week

Twelve minutes late may as well be a death sentence for Chai according to Eric Wilson, NYT journalist. He clearly was unimpressed and quite underwhelmed with the showing of Richard Chai's F12 show. Better luck next time perhaps? And don't be late!!!

Richard Chai's collection was late arriving at Lincoln Center for his 11 a.m. fashion show this morning, so while the editors were waiting, they checked their e-mail. At 11:12 a.m., a press release popped in my in-box from Pantone, the color forecasting company, announcing its predictions for the fall season: Olympian Blue, Tangerine Tango, Ultramarine Green, Titanium, Honey Gold, Pink FlambĂ© and other colors that I can’t quite picture but assume to be rather bright. When Mr. Chai’s designs hit the runway, they were, as usual, predominantly based in urban shades of grays, blacks and navy blue. I suspect Pantone’s report is mostly a public relations stunt to get its name in the papers. (It works.) But I mention this as a reminder that New York Fashion Week, with something like 350 shows, cannot easily be pegged to a set of trends for the season. Increasingly, it is becoming a series of fractured voices and images, probably a healthy thing for fashion since it means designers are recognizing the need for independent thinking. “I didn’t want to do anything that was tricky,” Mr. Chai said. “I didn’t want to create looks that were just for the show. I wanted it to be approachable and believable, but also be really aspirational. At the end of the day, it’s pieces that I want people to wear.” Mr. Chai’s gray and black blanket stripes were shown on coats, jackets and trousers for men and women, and later in his show there were sportswear options in claret velvet, wide-legged corduroy pants, and a print that looked like old wallpaper, but no Tangerine Tango. For men, he also introduced his new collection for Filson, including coats, a weekender bag and backpacks trimmed with the company’s signature thin leather strips. The idea, Mr. Chai said backstage, “was obviously the idea of youthful uniforms and a fun way to put things together, but also, for women at least, handsome femininity.”

#3--Cambridge in NYC

Since fall, I have been spotting these amazingly bright and beautiful bags all of the city. I had to find out who made these awesome bags and how I could get my hands on one.

Cut to me stalking people out to try and find out about this bag.  I caught a girl on FIT's campus with The Large Cambridge Satchel, in neon yellow and got the scoop.

I love how she kept her outfit simple. Pretty monochromatic, sticking to grays and blacks and let the bag be her big statement piece. It's a great pop of color and can be great for fall 11 and spring 12's awesome color blocking trend.

The Cambridge Satchel can be purchased at http://www.cambridgesatchel.co.uk/ for roughly $200 USD depending on which size chosen and whether or not you get your initials embossed. I personally love the embossing that can be done, see picture at right. The satchel can also now be purchased at Bloomingdales. In store or online at http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/the-cambridge-satchel-company-satchel-fluorescent-satchel?ID=582865&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results.

#2--Pastel Mania

For Spring of 2013, I hope to continue seeing pastels. Pastel colors were all over the runways for Spring 2012 collections which are currently hitting stores. While shopping the market place a bit here in New York City, it seems that customers are responding very strongly in a positive manner to these fun spring colors. In the Spring 2012 collections, pastels were mostly brought to viewers attentions through color blocking as shown below.
3.1 Phillip Lim S12

Calvin Klein Collection S12

Prada S12

DVF S12
I believe pastels will be brought into the Spring 2013 shows in a different manner. I think they will most likely make the re-appearance through patterns. Wheather they be florals or animal prints, I believe the consumers will welcome these fun color palletes as a change to the current neon trends and after such a drab winter season. Something more along these lines is what I see is yet to come for S13. Or patterns made of pastels.

Here are images I have found that have further inspired me to believe pastels are here to stay:
